Description |
Saxon Porcelain Manufactory (1872-Present) was founded in 1872 by Carl Thieme (-1888) in Dresden, Germany. Until this point, porcelain painters and artists in Dresden would purchase porcelain from the factory in Meissen, Germany and decorate it. It was Saxon which first produced their own porcelain pieces in Dresden. Because of this, Dresden Saxon is often confused and mistaken for Meissen porcelain. Saxon porcelain was exhibited in worldwide art expositions in cities such as Paris and Chicago. This figurine bears the Saxon Porcelain Dresden blue stamp, which is believed to have been introduced by the company in 1902. |
