Description |
An example of Rookwood Pottery Company's (1880-1967) Ivory/Ivory Jewel Porcelain glaze, first introduced in 1916, this vase from 1948 is a later example of the technique by pottery decorator Jens Jensen (1895-1978) who was active at Rookwood from 1928 to 1948. This vase features hand-decorated, highly stylized flowers on a dark background. This glaze is characterized by a hazy, semi-translucent, appearance created by tiny imbedded bubble-like structures. |
