Description |
This chaotic scene is set in the notorious Rose Tavern, a rbotherl and pub located in London's Convent Garden. In contrast with Tom's studied elegance in the last plate, on this image, Tom is seated to the left, drunk and disheveled. He is surrounded by prostitutes, one of whom has stolen his pokcet watch and passes it off to her accomplice located behind Tom. What other clues suggest that Tom is at a house of ill repute? |
