Description |
Haeger Potteries (1871-2016) was founded by a German immigrant David H. Haeger in Dundee, Illinois in 1871. The pottery provided brick, which helped rebuild Chicago after the great fire of 1871. By the 1920s, Haeger was producing artware, including vases, tea and luncheon ware. The company became popular after the 1934 Chicago World's Fair as a result of an interactive exhibit showcasing the production of ceramics throughout history. Haeger's most popular line, Royal Haeger, was introduced in the 1930s when Royal Hickman joined the company as a designer. Haeger Potteries continued production until 2016. |
