Description |
The Brush Pottery Company (1925-1985), formally the Brush-McCoy Pottery Company (1911-1925), operated in Roseville, Ohio from 1925 to 1982. They produced a wide variety of items including vases, planters, jardinières, figurines, and cookie jars. Owner George Brush (1870-1934) died in 1934 and his son-in-law Mr. W. Clare Barnett (1906–2000), married to George Brush's daughter Mrs. Lucile Barnett (1906–2006), took over. Clare and Lucile Barnett personally donated this piece and many others to the Zanesville Museum of Art's permanent collection. Hand-decorated frog and turtle figurines were introduced around 1930 and were wildly popular and were produced until the Brush Pottery Company closed in 1982. |
