Description |
It is believed that Hall worked as a potter at W.P. Harris Pottery between 1828 and 1856. This remarkably well-preserved early Ohio stoneware jug is one of only three known examples that bear both applied and incised decoration. Inscribed "E. Hall Ohio / To Josiah Defenbaugh. Dated 1858," did this remarkable jug commemorate a special event like a wedding? |
