Description |
This stained-glass window was created by William Gibson, who founded the earliest documented stained glass company in America. Founded in 1834 in New York City, Gibson promoted himself as the "father of glass painting" in the United States. This piece was inherited by the ZMA's donor from members of the William Gibson estate-May Gibson Parker (1881-prior to 1965) and her husband Orrel A. Parker (1873-1965). Orrel and May Gibson Parker were residents of New York City who moved to Cleveland, Ohio. In Cleveland, Orrel Parker, an inventor and businessman, founded Parker Wheel Company. |
