The underside has the artist's partial incised signature "Kajitani" and additional illegible incised marks, possibly a Japanese character, followed by an incised "'80" and "Columbus". There is also "25 Lbs" written in what appears to be black pen on the underside. |
Description |
Ban Kajitani (1941-Present) is a ceramicist who studied and taught ceramics at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Kajitani's work is inspired by the ancient Asian technique known as neriage. Neriage is a ceramic technique in which multiple layers of clay are put together to create marbling effects. |
