Description |
The Burley Winter Pottery Company (1872-1988) was established in 1872 in Crooksville, Ohio by William Newton Burley and Wilson Winter. Like many early companies, they began with strictly utilitarian wares. It was not until 1932 that they hired ceramic designer and engineer Stoin M. Stoin to begin producing art pottery. Although they produced high-gloss pieces like this one, Burley Winter Pottery is more well known for their signature matte mottled glazes that adorned urns, vases, jardinieres, jars, bean pots and more. |
