Description |
An example from Weller Pottery Company's Dickens Ware II line introduced in 1900, this semi-gloss pitcher features an intricately incised image of two men playing checkers. Leisure activities were a common motif for this line designed by Charles Babcock Upjohn (1866-1953) along with a variety of characters, many of whom are drawn from stories by Charles Dickens (1812-1870). |
