Description |
This painting depicts the establishment and development of new towns being built throughout Ohio. Major roadways such as the National Road (Route 40) began as early as 1825. These roads, combined with new canals and railroad lines, made transportation easier for Ohioans to buy and sell goods in distant markets. |
