Description |
Cleveland, Ohio native Charles Lakofsky (1922-1993) was an internationally renowned ceramic artist known for his original glazes and strict firing schedules. He produced forms by hand throwing on a pottery wheel and hand building, often combining the processes in his work. He used a wide variety of clay bodies, but favored porcelain. Lakofsky studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, the New York State College of Ceramics: Alfred University in Alfred, New York, and with Arthur Baggs at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He served as a professor of art at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio from 1948 to 1985. |
