Zanesville, Ohio artist Karl Kappes (1861-1943) painted this canvas in Texas, Ohio, which was the artist's country retreat. It was also in Texas, Ohio that the artist welcomed fellow artists in residence and held painting retreats. This American Impressionist painting captures nature's ever-changing seasons and the late afternoon light. This work was donated to the Zanesville Museum of Art by the Toledo-based artist Kenneth Tussing, who painted with Karl Kappes in Texas, Ohio in the 1920s. |
