Description |
An example of Rookwood Pottery Company's Standard Glaze introduced in 1884, this three-spouted pitcher, shape number 259C, was hand decorated by Sarah Alice Toohey (1872-1941) in 1893. It features a hand-painted portrait of a boy on an airbrushed background. Given its name because it was the standard product line produced by Rookwood during the company's early years, the Standard Glaze line received international recognition at the 1889 Universal Exposition in Paris. |
