The underside has a molded and raised design and manufacturer's mark: "Music, the greatest good that mortals know and all of heaven we have below" and "Handcraft wares," with logo of hands on pot, and wrapped in text, "Kiln Forms Inc. Columbus, O,1064 W. 5 Ave." and "designers [Eugene] Friley, [Stanley] Fistick." There is also a "65" written in black underglaze. |
Description |
Eugene Friley (1921-2019) is a ceramicist who has lived in Columbus, Ohio for much of his career. In addition to studying ceramics at Ohio State University, Friley taught at Ohio State for over 40 years. Now a Professor Emeritus at the University, Friley continues to exhibit work at Ohio State and elsewhere. Friley's work is inspired significantly by nature. |
