Description |
Lenox Corporation (1889-2020) was founded in 1889 in Trenton, New Jersey by Walter Scott Lenox and Jonathan Coxon, Sr. under the name Ceramic Art Company. Lenox renamed the company to Lenox, Incorporated in 1906, and in 2009 the name was changed to Lenox Corporation. During their early years, Lenox Corporation made high-quality ceramic artwork, but by the early 1900s, they began making dinnerware and tableware. Lenox pieces were the only American porcelain pieces to be displayed at the National Museum of Ceramics in France. Moreover, Lenox Corporation's china became the first china to be used at the White House. Lenox Corporation is known for making custom china as well as having their own recognizable patterns. The Lenox Corporation factory in the United States closed in 2020, due to troubles from the COVID-19 pandemic. |
