Description |
Dominick Labino (1910–1987), an integral part of the American studio glass movement, was a master glassmaker, scientist, and inventor who held over 60 glass-related patents. He was an engineer whose innovations in fiberglass helped to insulate the Gemini and Apollo spacecraft. Glassblowing remained a hobby for Labino until 1962, when he set up his own studio. Internationally known, Labino's glass artworks are part of over 100 museum's permanent collections all over the world. This piece bears the artist's signature "Labino / 6-1975" indicating it was created in June of 1975. |
