Description |
Hal Scroggy (1921-2018) was an Akron, Ohio watercolor artist whose annual trips to the small, rocky island of Monhegan, located ten miles from the mainland of Maine and accessible only by boat, inspired Markers at Monhegan. Scroggy did not paint the entire surface area of the paper and instead used the unpainted sections of the bright white paper to function as a highlight, conveying and heightening the brightness of the summer day. |
