Description |
George K. Marquis (1908-1990) was a gifted Noble County, Ohio watercolorist who trained briefly at the Cleveland School of Art before returning to Sharon, Ohio to run his father's general store. It wasn't until the 1970s that Marquis began to exhibit his works in regional galleries and at the Zanesville Art Institute, now the Zanesville Museum of Art. Marquis's watercolor technique is unlike other artists who exploited the media's fluid nature. Instead, there is a certain precision and linearity in the way Marquis's depicted Grandpa's Barn. |
