Description |
An early line introduced in 1905 by Roseville Pottery Company called Rozane Mongol, commonly referred to as Mongol today, this line received an award at the 1904 St. Louis Exposition for its oxblood red or "sang de boeuf" glaze that was developed by John Herold. This rare glaze, which was believed to have been developed in Mongolia, was not a commercial success. This tone on tone vase, shape number M821-9", is decorated with gracefull flowers in a dark red underglaze, which makes this piece even more rare. This piece was placed on permanent loan to the ZMA by Mrs. Robert P. Windisch (née, Georgianna Clement). She was not only the daughter of Fenwick Clement, the former President of Roseville Pottery Company, Mrs. Windisch was the wife of another Roseville Pottery Company President, Mr. Robert P Windisch. |
