Description |
Meissen Porcelain Manufactory (1710-Present) was one of the top porcelain producers in Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries. The company produced some of the first European examples of what is known as hard-paste porcelain. The signature logo of two crossed swords is well-known all over the world. Meissen continues to be a leader in porcelain production to this day. This figure group is the work of Meissen sculptor Michel Victor Acier (1736-1799), and is believed to be from the the Kaendler period, under the leadership of Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775). Scholars attribute this period, 1731-1775, as the most important and influential time in Meissen's history. |
