This piece has a manufacturer's ink stamp on the underside that reads as follows: Around outside edge: Made in U.S.A. Around inside of larger circle: Universal-Cambridge, O. / Oven Proof. Around inside of smaller circle: National Brotherhood of Operative Potteries. In the middle of the circular ink stamp is a stylized logo. This piece also has "3-9-R" written in black underglaze on the underside. |
Description |
Universal Potteries (1934-1954) operated in Cambridge, Ohio from circa 1934-1954. The company made numerous lines of dinnerware and kitchenware, including Blue Bell, Sunrise, and Carousel, to name a few. This red teapot is a shape known as "Carillon" and was also found in a blue variety. |
