Description |
Edwin (1910-2008) and Mary (1910-2007) Scheier were husband and wife potters who were important factors in the revival of Studio Pottery in the mid-1900s. The couples' first pottery studio was located in Glade Spring, Virginia, and was called Hillcrock Pottery. The Scheier's later relocated to Durham, New Hampshire, where they became very popular ceramicists. Self-taught artists, Mary was usually responsible for throwing pieces, and Edwin was the usual glazer. Decorations on pieces varied, with each potter having their own unique styles and techniques. |
