Description |
During the 1950s through the early 1960s, art donor Allan Gerdau gave the ZMA a large and eclectic collection of fine art and artifacts. Why? Gerdau, an eccentric and generous New York collector owned a prestigious import and export company. It's likely that the daughter of Zanesville Museum of Art founders Edward and Clara Ayers, Margaret Gorsuch, who had a talent for soliciting fine donations from New York collectors, brokered the donations from Gerdau's gallerist the Carlebach Gallery, New York. |
