Description |
The Cambridge Glass Works (1873-1958) was formed in 1873 in Cambridge, Ohio by a group of businessmen. They purchased a site and began construction on the new glass factory. The first piece was produced in 1902. The plant expanded in the 1920s and enjoyed its most prolific years in the 1930s, employing over 700 people at its peak. They produced a wide variety of glassworks including colored glass and entire dinner service sets. Cambridge Glass Works closed in 1958. Items like this ashtray set are the result of a collaboration with Farber Brothers Krome Kraft, established in New York in 1915. Farber Brothers Krome-Kraft created a line of chrome giftware items with removable colored glass inserts created by Cambridge Glass Works. |
