Kappes was a professionally trained Ohio-based painter and pottery decorator whose early portraits were heavily influenced by the Munich Academy style. Later in life, Kappes was an American Impressionist who captured the Ohio landscape. He taught Will Rannells, Andrew Loomis, and Stanley Thompson among other Ohio-based artists. |
